Glaucoma
Treatment Approach & Methods
1Precision Diagnosis First
We precisely assess optic nerve thickness and blood flow status using advanced equipment.
2Step-by-Step Customized Treatment
We prioritize medication, but when IOP control is difficult or progression is rapid, we promptly decide on laser and surgical treatment.
3Lifetime Primary Care System
Glaucoma is a long-term battle. Through regular check-ups and continuous monitoring, we protect your precious vision to the end.
Glaucoma Medication Treatment
The most common first-line treatment after glaucoma diagnosis is
medication therapy through eye drop instillation.
The key to medication therapy is stably lowering IOP
to prevent optic nerve damage.

A daily routine that protects your vision.
Glaucoma eye drops do more than relieve symptoms
they regulate IOP to a level your optic nerve can safely withstand.
Consistent use at the same time each day, even without symptoms, is the cornerstone of treatment.
Personalized Prescriptions
We don't prescribe the same eye drops for every patient.
Gangnam Tokyo Eye Clinic comprehensively considers the patient's IOP levels, underlying conditions, and lifestyle patterns to select the optimal medication.

Aqueous Humor Drainage Promotion
Medication that helps aqueous humor drain more effectively from the eye
Aqueous Humor Production Suppression
Medication that reduces the amount of aqueous humor produced in the eye
Combination Formulation
Medication combining two ingredients to reduce the inconvenience of instillation
Side Effect Prevention & Systematic Monitoring
To minimize discomfort such as redness, itching, and periocular pigmentation
that may occur with medication therapy, Gangnam Tokyo Eye Clinic continuously monitors each patient's response.
Never endure discomfort in silence.
Gangnam Tokyo Eye Clinic works with you to ensure your comfort throughout treatment.
Proper Eye Drop Instillation Guide
To maximize medication effectiveness, Gangnam Tokyo Eye Clinic
provides detailed education on proper instillation order and methods.

Glaucoma Laser Treatment
Glaucoma laser treatment is an important therapy performed to lower IOP and prevent or slow the progression of optic nerve damage.
It is primarily considered when IOP control is insufficient with medication alone, when there are drug side effects, or as a pre-surgical step.

This procedure uses a laser to create a tiny hole in the peripheral iris,
opening a new pathway for aqueous humor flow.
It prevents sudden spikes in IOP caused by blocked aqueous flow,
and is essential for preventing and treating acute angle-closure glaucoma.

This procedure selectively stimulates
specific cells of the 'trabecular meshwork,' the drainage outlet for aqueous humor,
to reactivate reduced drainage function.
It can safely lower IOP without damaging surrounding tissue,
and is characterized by the possibility of repeated treatment when needed.
Gangnam Tokyo Eye Clinic Glaucoma Surgery Types

Trabeculectomy
Trabeculectomy is the most established and proven glaucoma surgery.
At Gangnam Tokyo Eye Clinic, Dr. Park Hyung-ju performs a refined, customized
technique adapted from Japan's Deep Scleral Flap method.
The procedure creates a controlled drainage system
between the interior and exterior of the eye
to normalize IOP when other treatments prove insufficient.
